BAS Skills Challenge 2021


SINGAPORE – 19 December 2021. The BAS Skills Challenge Finals, organised by Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) and sponsored by Rigorer Singapore was held in Singapore Basketball Centre on Sunday, 19 December 2021.

 

The objective of the Skills Challenge is to encourage Singaporeans to experience competitive basketball in a different way and also to stay active.

 

The Skills Challenge registration were at $30 per team (2 players), with no restrictions on age, gender, or nationality in the team's composition (the minimum age to participate is 13 years old). Each participant was also given a Rigorer T-shirt.

 

In collaboration with our event sponsor - Rigorer Singapore, to encourage Singaporeans to restart and enjoy basketball safely. The Skills Challenge was uniquely created with intuitive rules, easy to understand, and suitable for people of all ages and abilities. The stations and flow are crafted such that players only require half a basketball court to navigate the stations. Recreational players can use the setup as a fun activity with their friends, while competitive players can test their skill level. There were no restrictions gender, or nationality in the team's composition (the minimum age to participate is 13 years old). Each registered participant was also given a Rigorer T-shirt.

 

BAS would like to thank National Institute of Education and Nanyang Technological University, for the collaboration to create the Skills Challenge instructional video. And also, to thank the donors - 

JLB Consulting, Grit esports and Argent Asia Consulting for sponsoring the cash prizes for the event.

 

This first ever basketball skills challenge saw over 190 participants during the preliminary held on 11 and 12 December 2021, competing to qualify into the Top 8 teams for the finals.

 
Minister Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, graced the event finals on 19 December 2021, as the Guest-of-Honour and was also the prize presenter at the prize presentation ceremony.
