COVID-19: Safe Return to Basketball

SAFE MANAGEMENT MEASURES FOR RESUMPTION OF BASKETBALL FOR PHASE 2 (“SAFE TRANSITION”)

As Singapore enters into phase 2 of the post-circuit breaker, sports & recreation facilities and sporting activities are allowed to re-open and resume with safe management measures.

With the objective of safeguarding the safety of all participants and minimise the risk of communal infections, the following advisory provides members of basketball with information on the resumption of basketball under phase 2 “Safe Transition” of the post-circuit breaker as well as the safe management measures to be implemented. 

There are 3 topics covered which include:

  • REOPENING OF BASKETBALL FACILITIES
  • MEASURES TAKEN BY OPERATORS OF BASKETBALL FACILITIES
  • ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO ENSURE SAFE RETURN TO BASKETBALL

1.    Group Training: Club Training/ Academy/ Instructional

2.    Basketball Competitions in Phase 2

3.    Recreational Basketball

4.    Pick-up Basketball

 

Do also note the following in particular and this link for more information on SportSG safe management measures https://www.myactivesg.com/read/2020/6/covid19-latest-updates:

a.       At least 2-metre safe distancing must be maintained between each person, 3 metres for indoor high-intensity exercises.  Contact sports are allowed within each group of 5 except those that involve prolonged body contact.

b.      A maximum of up to 5 persons for any group activities or classes (excluding instructor). 

c.       Groups must maintain a 3-metre distance between each group.

d.      No cross-mixing of groups and no switching of courts are allowed.
