Under 19 – National Youth Development Programme (NYDP)
Overview
The U19 National Youth Development Programme is a strategic pathway designed to nurture Singapore’s emerging basketball talents in 3×3 and 5v5 formats. This initiative represents a collaborative effort between:
- Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS)
- High Performance Sport Institute (Sport Singapore)
- Singapore Sports School (SSP)
Programme Aim
- Bring the best of Singapore’s U19 basketball talents (17 to 19 years old) who desire to represent Singapore to train together in the best possible Daily Training Environment (DTE).
- Dedicated to developing future Singapore National Team basketball players for 3×3 and 5v5.
- Take a holistic approach to developing elite basketball student-athletes and integrate education, basketball training, sports science, and personal excellence into its DTE.

Participant Capacity
48 student-athletes: 24 boys and 24 girls
Player Profile for 2026 Intake
The programme shall comprise Singapore Sports School (SSP) student-athletes and non-SSP student-athletes
Nationality and Age
- Singapore Citizen
- Born between 2007 and 2009
2025 Academic Status
- Secondary Level:
- Year 4 in Integrated Programme
- Secondary 4 (Normal Technical, Normal Academic, or Express
- Secondary 5 Normal Academic
- Post-Secondary Level:
- Junior College/Millennia Institute
- Integrated Programme (Year 5 or 6)
- Polytechnics
- ITE
Basketball Representation
- International Level
Singapore’s representation in FIBA-sanctioned competitions - National Association Level
BAS x ABA Regional Training Centre - School or Education Institution Level
MOE Singapore School Team
Institution of Higher Learning Teams - Club Level
BAS-sanctioned Youth Cup competitions
