BAS will adopt the FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2008 for all tournaments with effect from 1st January 2009.
Certified Coaches for National Basketball League (NBL)
BAS would require coaches who are coaching teams in NBL Division 1, NBL Division 2 & WNBL to possess a minimum of NROC Level 2 coaching certification. This would include possessing the following certificates:
- NCAP Level 1 (Theory)
- NCAP Level 1 (Technical)
- NCAP Level 2 (Theory)
- NCAP Level 2 (Technical)
- First-Aid

These changes have taken effect from 1st January 2010. For the official notification of this upcoming requirement, please refer to this letter.
The COE 13 & Under players will be competing in an Inter-Centre Competition from 21 August 2010 till 4 September 2010. The competition aimed to achieve the following objectives:
1) Assessing the skills of the individual players
2) Serve as a reward for the players before releasing them for the preparation of PSLE
Fixtures
Registration for NBL Qualifying Round for Men 2010 and MILO Youth 14 & Under Boys and Girls Basketball Championship (2010) is now open. Registration will close on Tues, 24 Aug 10 and Mon, 25 Oct 10 respectively.

Youth Olympic Games 2010 Squads have been finalised! These youths will be representing Singapore in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games 2010, so make sure you pop by *SCAPE to support them on our match days!

With the focus on developing youths for the future, BAS has also announced the formation of the Singapore National Centre of Excellence (COE) 13 & Under Squads 2010. Some of them may well be the ones representing Singapore in YOG Innsbruck 2012!
Having just completed its 17th session, the ever-popular Basketball Hoops Camp have already begun accepting registrations, on a first-come-first-serve basis, for the 18th round in September. Do note that the upcoming BBHC will be held at the Singapore Basketball Centre only. However, we are sure that distance can't dampen that desire for basketball in you! So hurry up and submit those registration forms as soon as you can!
High Participation Basketball Programme
Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) in conjunction with the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) will be organizing a brand-new High Participation Basketball Programme from 4 July 2010 (Sunday) till 19 September 2010 (Sunday) for primary & secondary school students. The training venue is at the new Baskteball Satellite Centre at Bukit Panjang Government High School (7, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4, Singapore 689809), with the programme lasting 12 weeks. Interested participants, please refer to the details and the training schedules for more information.
A media launch was held at the Wrestling Federation of Singapore on 29 May 2010 to officially launch the Basketball Satellite Centre, with photos available here.
NBA Feeder Camp 2010
Mr. Jama Mahlalela (Director, Basketball Operations - Asia) together with 2 Centre of Excellence (COE) 13 & Under Coaches conducted the NBA Feeder Camp 2010 with 21 players at Singapore Sports School on 2 May 2010 (Sunday). It was indeed a great learning experience for our players. Photographs are here.
Coaching & Development Newsletter
The Coaching & Development Committee of BAS has come up with its own newsletter that will be published on a quarterly basis. The newsletter will allow schools and coaches to keep abreast of events and programmes that are being organized by the Coaching & Development Committee. We hope this newsletter will be useful for basketball coaches to involve your players with BAS and the whole basketball community even further! 13 & Under (Primary School) Junior League 2010
The competition has tentatively been scheduled to take place from end-May to mid-July 2010. The actual playing format and duration of the competition will be finalised upon confirmation of the number of participating teams.
The competition is specially catered for teams that were knocked out in the First-Round of the Inter-Primary School Competition or have never participated in the Inter-Primary School Competition. For more details and the registration form, please click here.
Learn-to-play School Programme – Singahoops
BAS will be organising the Basketball SingaHoops Programme for all primary & secondary school students within the school's compund on an all-year round ad-hoc basis. NCAP Theory Coaching Courses in 2010
SSC will be organizing a series of NCAP Theory Coaching Courses in 2010. The course schedules for the various levels are as follows:
NCAP Level 1 Theory
NCAP Level 2 Theory
NCAP Level 3 Theory
With effect from 2009, the age categories for the Milo Youth Cup will be changed to 19 & Under, 17 & Under, 15 & Under.
SSC Endorsed First-Aid Training Centres
BAS encourages coaches who do not possess First-Aid certification to attain it.
